The Role of Teaching Assistants at Woodchester Endowed

At Woodchester Endowed School we have qualified teachers to work with our special needs pupils in small groups. We also have five Teaching Assistants (TAs) working with our SEND and Pupil Premium students.  TAs have high expectations of all students, and use their subject knowledge to enable all students to achieve the learning objective in lessons. Teaching staff plan lessons to make effective use of TAs, therefore their impact is significant in contributing to the learning and achievement in our classrooms.

TAs also provide one-to-one study skills intervention sessions during registration. This helps our SEND students in becoming more confident independent learners. Phonics, Reading, Numeracy and Spelling intervention programmes are also offered on a one-to-one basis.
